Spring Discoveries

4/16/20

This is the kind of day that confused me for a long time.  You see, as a native Californian, when you see the sun shining outside you are quite certain it will be hot, or warm - or at least warmish.  It has taken me many years living in colder climates to understand that bright sunshine in winter or spring doesn't guarantee warmth.  Today is one of those days.  Brilliantly sun-shining day - not quite 40 degrees and breezy.  Still it was wonderful (and necessary) to get out and wander the yard and familiar paths.

Here are my discoveries:

Magnolia blossoms ready to burst!

Sadly, a nest in disrepair and abandoned, leaving an unhatched egg.  I'm thinking a Blue Jay nest

A neighbor reaching out - "Kindness Rocks"  with instructions to "take a rock, or leave a rock".  Beautiful messages letting us know we are all in this together.

The unfurling of my Rhubarb plant's leaves.  I have to say I'm very taken with leaf emergence this spring!

And finally, the tiny radish sprouts.  Stay safe little radishes, you will be blanketed with 2-5 inches of snow tonight!
