Snow: Nature’s Paintbrush

Bear Creek Spire from Rock Creek Ansel Adams, Sierra Club Bulletin 1931

Several inches of snow fell overnight and had just stopped as we started this morning's winter walk.  Snow was freshly layered on trunks, branches, needles .

It was as if mother nature had dipped her brush in  thick white paint in order to illustrate the shapes and designs of trees.

My friend, Beth, sent this illustration by naturalist, May Watts, "Some ways of wearing snow".  How lovely.
