George’s “Mt. Whitney Dawn”

I am excited to announce that the Eastern California Museum will be housing several of George’s 16mm films, as well as much of his footage taken in the Owens Valley, the High Sierras, and Death Valley.

“The Eastern California Museum was founded in 1928, and has been operated by the County of Inyo since 1968. The mission of the Museum is to collect, preserve, and interpret objects and information related to the cultural and natural history of Inyo County and the Eastern Sierra, from Death Valley to Mono Lake.” ECM website

I remember visiting the ECM with my dad. George stopped by often when he was in the Owens Valley. His love of ECM makes it particularly meaningful that his films will have a home there.

Among the films being housed at ECM are:“Handle with Care”; “Water Film”, set to Svamitva’s Water Music, “The Moldau”; and “What’s the Use?”We are hoping that the films will be digitized so that they can be easily viewed. We’ll keep you posted!
